What happens to the file
What stays intact
- Embedded fonts are reused, so line breaks and spacing stay where the author put them.
- The original words are removed from the page content stream — search and copy-paste see only your text.
- Pages you did not touch are copied through byte-for-byte.
- Anonymous files never leave your device; only signing in adds cloud storage.
What it will not do
- Scanned pages are pictures: there is no text in them to edit. You can still sign, annotate and manage those pages.
- Rotated, vertical and Type 3 text, and text inside form objects, open read-only — the editor says so when you click them.
- Filling in AcroForm form fields is not supported yet; the fields are preserved as they are.
Questions about this tool
Is this really a full PDF editor?
Yes for the everyday jobs: existing text, new text boxes, signatures, images, highlights, drawings, shapes, comments, watermarks and page order. Scanned pages have no text to edit — you can still annotate and sign them.
Do I need to install anything?
No. PDFinline runs in Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop, tablet and phone.
Will the layout break?
The line you edit reflows inside its own box and keeps its font, size and alignment. If a font is missing, a metric-compatible substitute keeps the width, and the editor says which one it used.
How big a file can I open?
Up to 50 MB and 500 pages on the free plan.
